> Biography

Born and raised in London, I moved to Hampshire on the South Coast of England in 1992, in part to escape city life but also to continue pursuing my love of the outdoors and sailing.

Throughout my early life I drew constantly and I was encouraged both at home and at school. My early studies centred on art and having gained a number of qualifications in art-related subjects at school I went to study for my Art Foundation course at Barnet College. Clashes with many lecturers wanting to pigeonhole students like me into graphic art forced a rethink and I eventually left the course to pursue other directions.

I spent five years working in the insurance industry before jointly running a specialist clothing company where I was also able to utilise my design skills as well as develop my business knowledge. I kept painting and produced many pictures, some were gifts to friends whilst others were occasional commissions.I became a full time painter in 2004.

I am influenced by many artists and painter but especially appreciate classic masters - JMW Turner, Thomas Girtin, Alfred Munnings and WL Willie. I also greatly admire the work of Peter Curling, J Steven Dews, Rodger McPhail, Martyn Mackrill and Peter Smith. I am passionate about art, spending many hours studying the works of these artists and others at galleries across the country.

Examples of my work are now found in private collections in Australia, France, Ireland, Italy, Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom.
