If you would like to commission a painting please contact me and tell me your ideas. If the subject you are interested in is not shown on the website it doesn’t matter. I’m always interested in painting new subjects.
The best results usually come from actually seeing the subject and discussing what you want face to face. I find this is the best way of fully understanding what a client wants, how they see the subject and what it means to them, whether it's a person, their boat, a horse, a dog, or a favourite landscape. I can then begin to understand how best to compose the painting and create something really special for you.
I can either travel to meet with you and see the subject of the proposed painting or we can meet near where I live in Hamble. I would normally take an extensive range of my own photographs of the subject (I use digital so we can see if we’ve got what we need there and then) but if you have some really good ones then we might be able to use them, too. The better the photos, the better the end result.
Once we’re happy that we’ve caught what we need on camera I then go to my studio to paint. Often I’ll produce one or two brief sketches (especially if I’m creating a painting from many photos) which I’ll email to you for approval before going ahead with the painting proper. When the painting is finished I’ll have it framed and arrange for delivery or collection for you.
